Hello, I'm Jennifer
artist. photographer. writer.
I am a multidisciplinary artist based in Rhode Island whose work explores psychology, trauma, healing, and transformation through drawing, sculpture, mixed media, photography, and poetry.
My current work investigates the relationship between the body, personal history, and symbolic imagery, often incorporating themes of nature, decay, and resilience.

My approach

My work often begins with a poem, journal entry, memory, or symbolic image. Drawing inspiration from personal experience, psychology, mythology, and the natural world, I use metaphor and layered imagery to explore themes of healing, resilience, loss, and transformation.
Working across multiple mediums allows each idea to find the form it needs, whether through drawing, sculpture, mixed media, or writing. I am particularly interested in the relationship between the body, personal history, and the symbols we use to make sense of our experiences. Through recurring motifs drawn from nature and memory, I seek to create work that invites reflection, connection, and multiple interpretations.
I view art as a way of making the invisible visible, and giving shape to emotions, stories, and experiences that are often difficult to express in words alone.

my photography story
I’ve had a camera in my hands for as long as I can remember. There are photos from the early 90s of me proudly holding my first little film camera. By high school, I was already photographing my friends for MySpace modeling sessions (complete with very kitschy early-2000s editing styles).
In 2013, photography became more than a passion. I began working professionally as a band and concert photographer, touring with musicians and capturing live performances, behind-the-scenes moments, and promotional imagery. Not long after, I expanded into portrait photography and weddings, and Jennifer Lisa Photography was born.
Over the years, I’ve photographed everything from intimate portraits to large-scale commercial branding and marketing packages, and creative projects, including work exhibited at AS220 in Providence, Rhode Island.
Photography, to me, is about preserving the moments that matter most.
photography with purpose
Jennifer Lisa Photography is built on the belief that meaningful work should also give back. After being diagnosed with a rare cancer in 2018, my perspective on time, memory, and legacy shifted deeply.
Since 2019, a portion of all proceeds has been donated to organizations supporting causes close to my heart, including:
• LGBTQIA+ advocacy
• Animal welfare
• Environmental and ocean conservation
• Human rights and public health
• Children’s hospitals
• Mental health awareness
• Domestic violence support
• Veterans organizations
I also volunteer my photography services for community events and nonprofits whenever possible.
